Why "Most" Agent Newsletters Suck! I am not sugar coating this. Are you ready to hear it though? This one below is one from a very popular CRM that includes predone Newsletters for you. Yahhh...... you think? Nope. Let me walk you through the scenario. The only time this type of newsletter is a good idea is if it is ONLY being sent to Investors.
Does the subject make me want to open it? No. Why not put en enticing subject that would make me want to open and see what you have to tell me? What is the newsletter about?

As a client on your 'list', let's say that I bought a home from you 1 year ago and it is my forever home. Do you think I care about you telling me about moving being stressful? Nope. I would if I was categorized properly and I actually was in the process of selling. But are you sending this to only your Sellers?

Again, great info if you are sending this to your Sellers which I am guessing most Agents just click yes, send this awesome newsletter to all the people in the newsletter category......but shouldn't this be on your drip campaign to people who are actually selling or prospective sellers? There are two more articles in this newsletter that I was sent, yes, all about Selling. "Should I Stay or Sell" and "The Importance of Showing Your Home Often"
So What Should Be On Your Newsletters?
A catchy subject. Make me WANT to open it. What about things of value to all the people on your list? Like most Agents, you are probably sending Newsletters to a whole bunch of different people, right? Prospects. Past Buyers. Past Sellers. Maybe Friends. What would they want to know about monthly? What about things going on in your specific area? Every month has something going on. For sure. Open up a browser and google "Things happening in July in Vancouver (Your city)." Then write about that and put links to the event page. Why? Because you can then see who clicked on what link and see what people like.
But YOU want to put listings and other Real Estate Stuff in your Newsletter?
Fine. But it should be secondary content and also you should be monitoring clicks. Let's say Betty clicked on your listing 8 times. Maybe Betty is interesting in that property and maybe you should call her to see how she is doing and if she is enjoying your monthly newsletter. Cha Ching! Does your current Newsletter give you that type of analytics?
