Shocking Data Charges? You may Need to Turn a Feature Off on your iPhone NOW! We are pretty much reliant on our smartphones, tablets and other gadgets to manage our daily activities – from managing our schedule to checking & responding to emails, texts, phone calls and even just about anything. It has truly become an indispensable tool. But despite how smart technology has been, apparently, there are still instances when you have to manually intervene so you can do the things you love without sacrificing anything – especially your monthly phone bill!
Getting overage charges on your bill can be a pain in the eyes (and the pocket, too!). You may or may not have experienced this before but if you have been charged overage fees for excessive use of your data but you’re always connected to your Wi-Fi, then you should get a feature turned off on your iPhone.
The Wi-Fi Assist feature of the iPhone is what I’m talking about. With the iOS 9 came this feature that automatically turns your Cellular Data on your iPhone when your Wi-Fi signal is erratic or is very poor. Another thing about the feature is that you won’t know that it has already switched to using your cellular data. So, if you say, have been watching Netflix using your Wi-Fi and you went somewhere in your house where the signal isn’t that good, your iPhone automatically switches to your carrier network using your precious data. Imagine hours of streaming without you knowing that your bill is already suffering! You don’t want that of course!
So, start by turning the feature off, it’s actually very simple. Just do the following:
Chances are you if you haven’t turned this feature off before it is automatically turned on by Apple after the software update to iOS 9. If yours is already off, congratulations!
So, there you go! Moving forward, you should now avoid getting overage charges from something you aren’t even aware of!
