Darci answering: "Can anybody recommend a fantastic Laptop for me?"
RECAP ON SOMEONE'S FACEBOOK POST QUESTION:
"Can anybody recommend a fantastic computer for me... I need something fast, versatile, easy to carry, good battery life and lots of storage plus am just interested what my colleagues are using? thanks in advance"
DARCI'S ANSWER: You have to take whatever anyone says with a grain of salt. Windows users like Windows, Apple users like Apple. They will say Apple sucks if you are Windows and vice versa. :-) Though it might be interesting to hear what your colleagues say, you don't know how they work. You only know how YOU work. One person might say "Surface Pro is the best and he keeps everything in the cloud" but would it work for you? Maybe, if you keep everything in the cloud. Currently Surface Pro's don't have huge hard drive space.
What you probably want to ask an Expert. That doesn't mean another Agent. :-) I thought I would compile a few things you might want to consider before going to a computer store.
1. SIZE: How big do you want it? Is it just going to sit on your desk and never move or do you want to easily throw it in your purse or laptop bag? I would guess most Agents would want a laptop so you can take it on the go but maybe you are really looking for something more stationary. You need to know this!
2. STORAGE: How much hard drive space do you need for your personal and business stuff? (You heard it here first, soon this won't matter because ALL files will be in the cloud. I use Google's File Stream. Nothing sits on my computer. I know scary!) But, you probably aren't there yet so you need to know how much storage you really need for photos, files, folders, etc.
3. WINDOWS OR MAC: If you are currently a Windows user, remember that you will have a learning curve switching to a different operating system and don't be fooled that you know how to use your iPhone. A MAC is not the same! If you purchased software on a MAC and switch to windows, usually, you will have to repurchase it to work with the new Operating System and vice versa.
4. MONEY: If you have $700 bucks to spend you won't be buying a MAC unless it is used but you could buy a pretty decent laptop. You have to think about dollars when you are deciding on your purchase.
5: RESEARCH: You can also google "What is the best laptop or computer" and also say show me within the last 6 months. You will get lots of info! You also can drop into your local computer or Apple store and tell them how you use your current computer and how much you want to spend. They will tell you what is best.
