When you SHOULD and SHOULD NOT Boost a Facebook post. If you’re a REALTOR®, having a Facebook Business page should be at the top of your list. If you’ve set up yours already - congratulations! If you don’t have one yet, don’t worry it’s not surprising that many REALTORS® aren’t aware they should create one. Glad you’re reading this because it’s high time you consider creating your very own page where you should market your listings. With the 1 Billion and counting Facebook users worldwide, it is one of the best platforms to showcase what you do and earn something in return while you’re at it. So how do you further increase your reach and engagement? I’m sure noticed the Facebook business pages’ Boost button. This is found at the bottom right of any of the post you share on your page. Clicking it could result to your post reaching more people. This could potentially increase your business by attracting traffic and participation.
So, when exactly should you click the Boost button? Let me walk you through on when you should and should not boost a Facebook post.
1. What's YOUR goal?
Before you boost a post, answer the question: “Would this help me achieve what I am aiming for?” Let’s say your goal is to redirect more people to your website since you made a couple of new updates and revamped it. It’s reasonable to boost your post in these cases as it would bring forth more people to check out who you are and what you do. In the example I mentioned, you could perhaps say, “Click to check out my website” or “Check out the link to more about me”.
2. Your popular posts can always use a further boost.
Ever had days when a lot of people interact with your post and some days that your post just doesn’t get so much traction? How your audience reacts to what you share could mean a nod or a head shake. Although you could only infer as to why you get different reactions at different times, it’s hard to pin-point the exact reason. So, whenever you get that share of thumbs up, comments and some interaction, push the Boost button! That means 'your people' like it!
If you don’t know yet, Facebook does a trick on your post whenever you get a significant amount of traction. Boosting the post means it infiltrates further down the network and you get even more shares, likes and comments! Spending a couple of bucks to boost an already popular post gives you that edge, so use it!
3. Go Organic before using that Boost power-up!
Give your post a little time after you share it to get some love from your viewers. The ideal time would be between 2-6 hours so you’d know how engaging you’ve been. This lets you gauge if that post is going to climb uphill or go down the drain. Remember earlier that boosting your popular posts is a must? So, let your audience decide for you if the post is worth spending a few bucks.
4. Boosting versus Advertising
As you may have experienced, Boosting doesn’t require a lot of learning to get done. Simply click that button and watch your audience grow. But as simple as it may look like there are benefits you may be missing by doing Boosting as opposed to using Facebook ads.
